TripAdvisor Traveler Rating

Coit Tower is a San Francisco icon, built in 1933 as a viewing tower. An elevator takes guests 13 stories to the top for 360 degree views of the Bay area. In 1934 the tower was selected as the first public funded art project, 26 artists depicted California in the largest collection of depression era art in the United States, the vast majority are done in fresco and the colors are as vibrant today as they were when they were first applied. The tower receives thousands of visitors a year and is a must see when visiting San Francisco.
